Police ID Fatal Fire Victim From Montville: UPDATE

Methodical steps for processing the scene and determining the identity of the person who perished in the fire have been completed.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has positively identify the person that died as a result of a fatal fire that occurred on Tuesday, March 8, at 95 Depot Rd.

The victim is identified as Michael Dockray, 53, of Montville. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has certified the manner of death was accidental.

"This fire appears to not have any foul play at this time," Sgt. Mark Juhola said in a written statement. "The investigation in to the cause and origin of this fire is ongoing."

The Montville Fire Marshal’s Office, along with the Montville Police Departmen and detectives from the Fire & Explosion Investigative Unit (FEIU) are continuing the investigation.

The Montville Fire Marshal’s Office, along with the Montville Police Department and detectives from the Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit, are continuing the investigation into a fatal fire that occurred on Tuesday, March 8, at 95 Depot Rd.

The fire was contained to a small wooden structure that was not connected to the main residence. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters searched the shed and found one victim deceased in the shed.

"Methodical steps for processing the scene and determining the identity of the person are being taken," Sgt. Mark Juhola of the Montville Resident Trooper's Department said in a press release. "The Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner is working to positively identify this person."

Police said there does not appear to be foul play related to the fire in the shed. The investigation is ongoing.
