Montville Power to Prevent the Spread of Contaminants
The power company will take measures to prevent the spread of contaminants on its property.

Montville Power recently got permission to cover three contaminated locations on the property and eliminate the potential for exposure to people who are working or playing in the area.
Two of the locations will be covered with a layer of asphalt, according to a report in The Day. The third location will be capped with sand and a layer of plastic so that rain and snow cannot capture the pollutants and leak into the river. Then it will be topped with soil and grass.
The report says that most of the pollution was generated by Northeast Utilities, which sold the property to NRG Energy in 1990s.
