It’s that magical time of year when the deer forget how traffic works and try to play Frogger. The last week we have had three cars vs deer accidents and it’s only Tuesday.
This video happened the other night. One of our midnight officers was out patrolling the streets of Montville when this deer decided to jaywalk right in front of our cruiser. The way she took off running, she must have thought we were trying to talk to her about our extended car warranty.

- Watch your speed in rural areas, but we have seen deer everywhere in town.
- Be alert at all times, especially at dawn and dusk.
- Don’t try to “outmaneuver” a deer — just brake and hold your lane.
- Whenever you see one, always expect another.
So please, drive smart, stay alert, and let’s keep the venison off your grill, unless it’s your grill to cook if you’re into that.
