MONTVILLE, CT — Bruce Springsteen will postpone all his concerts this month, including a Sept. 16 show at Mohegan Sun, so he can receive treatment for peptic ulcer disease.

Springsteen was originally scheduled to play Mohegan Sun in March, but the show was rescheduled to September.

Peptic ulcer disease occurs when open sores, or ulcers, form in the stomach or first part of the small intestine, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Cases of peptic ulcer disease often develop due to a bacterial infection that eats away the digestive system's lining.

Springsteen tweeted that he and the E Street Band will postpone shows beginning with a Syracuse concert scheduled for Thursday.

"Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows," a statement reads.

Springsteen had the following to say: "Over here on E Street, we're heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our Phill fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We'll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We've been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we're looking forward to more great times. We'll be back soon."
