5-Person Fight Breaks Out In Walmart Parking Lot: Naugatuck Police

Police said a fight involving five people broke out in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Naugatuck.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A fight involving five people broke out late Wednesday night in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Naugatuck, according to police.

In a news release, police said the fight was reported around 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the store, located on New Haven Road.

According to police, two cars involved in the incident left the area before officers arrived.

After reviewing camera footage and speaking to several witnesses, as well as one person involved in the fight, officers learned the argument was sparked by an earlier road rage incident involving the merging of two lanes on New Haven Road.

The drivers of both cars pulled into the parking lot and the argument became physical. It escalated further when other people in the cars became involved in the fight, according to police.

One person was evaluated for injuries at an area hospital, police said.

Officers later found four other people involved in the fight who had left the area and arrested them, according to police.

All five people, four Waterbury residents and one Watertown resident, were charged with second-degree breach of peace.

One Waterbury resident was additionally charged with second-degree assault, and a second Waterbury resident was additionally charged with third-degree assault.

One person was issued a misdemeanor summons, three were released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and one was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond. All five are scheduled to appear in court next month, according to police.
