Car Crashes Into Apartment Building In Waterbury: PD

The driver is in critical condition following the Sunday evening crash, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A car smashed into an apartment building on Woodtick Road Sunday evening, and the driver was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Sgt. Joseph Morais said the accident happened around 5:18 p.m., when the driver of a Nissan Sentra struck apartment #4 at 954 Woodtick Rd.

The driver, a 36-year-old Waterbury man, was alone in the vehicle at the time, and he was the only one injured, police said.

Emergency personnel rushed the man to a local area hospital, where medical staff determined his head injuries to be life-threatening. As of Monday morning, the man remained in critical condition, police said.

Police did not release the driver’s name as of Monday morning.

The building sustained damage, but building inspectors have determined the structure to be sound, and its integrity was not compromised due to the crash, according to police.

The police department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident.
