NAUGATUCK, CT — Though police are typically trained to pursue criminals in town, Naugatuck officers engaged in a "duck pursuit" this week to rescue a group of the animals at a local park, according to the department.

In a Facebook post Friday, police said officers were called to Linden Park after the department received a report of "a group of dumped domestic ducks [that] needed saving."

Each duck was safely captured, however officers were forced to utilize "some very strategic waddling" and teamwork to accomplish the task, police said.

The ducks were then brought to a local animal rescue, according to police.

"Feathers may have been ruffled," police wrote on Facebook, "but spirits were high."
