Popular Pub Closes After Devastating Flooding In Naugatuck, Community Rallies

The community is rallying around the owner of a popular pub and barbershop after both were extensively damaged in the recent flooding.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The community is rallying around the owner of a popular pub and barbershop that have closed after being extensively damaged in the recent flash flooding in Naugatuck.

Maxine Mongillo recently launched a GoFundMe campaign in support of her brother Anthony Mongillo, who owns both the Water Street Pub and Barbershop on Water Street in Naugatuck.

Maxine Mongillo said the damage from the flooding is “extensive and heartbreaking, leaving the future of these beloved establishments uncertain.”

“Anthony has poured his heart and soul into building these businesses from the ground up,” she wrote in the post on the GoFundMe page. “It is truly painful to witness not only the destruction of his hard work but also the toll this has taken on him personally. Our thoughts are with Anthony and everyone in our community who has been affected by this disaster.

“In these challenging times, we must come together as a community. Your kindness and support mean more than ever. Simply sharing this message or spreading the word would be immensely appreciated.”

Maxine Mongillo said the funds raised in the campaign with help with the rebuilding and reopening of Water Street Pub and the Barbershop.

More than $8,500 has been raised in the campaign, as of Friday.
