Waterbury Traffic Stop Leads to Drug, Weapon Charges: Police

Police say they seized heroin, cocaine and a weapon that had been reported stolen.

WATERBURY, CT — A traffic stop in the Willow Street area of Waterbury on Tuesday led to two arrests and the seizure of heroin, cocaine and a stolen firearm, police said.

After stopping a Nissan Altima, police say they seized about 21 grams of crack-cocaine, 25 bags of heroin, 24 pills, 71 additional capsules containing crack-cocaine, 8 grams of cocaine, $135 cash, and a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm firearm.

The weapon had previously been reported as stolen, according to police.

The driver of the Nissan, Julian Carey, 28, of Waterbury, was charged with theft of a firearm; possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a hallucinogenic substance with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, criminal possession of firearm/ammunition, tampering with evidence and motor vehicle violations.

A passenger, Michael Dileo, 32, of Waterbury, was charged with possession of narcotics.
