Woman Stabbed In Waterbury Domestic Violence Attack: Police

A Waterbury man jumped from a second-story window to evade apprehension, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A 25-year-old local woman was stabbed multiple times Monday morning in what police described as a domestic violence incident.

Police were summoned to the area of Rose and Walnut streets around 8:52 a.m., according to Lt. Ryan Bessette.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where she was in stable condition with serious injuries as of Monday afternoon.

Police charged Robert Clark, 37, of Waterbury, with first-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, interfering with an officer, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Clark is in a relationship with the victim and they have children together, according to police.

After the assault, Clark returned to the couple’s residence at 19 Rose St. When police arrived, Clark attempted to evade apprehension by jumping from a second-story window and was injured, according to police.

Police took him into custody and transported him to a local hospital for treatment. Clark’s injuries were not life-threatening, though he remained hospitalized as of Monday afternoon, according to police.

The couple’s children were located and are safe. Police have contacted the state Department of Children and Families, police said.
