Brush Fire Closes Key Newington Roadway: Police

Motorists were urged to bypass the area while firefighters battled the blaze.

NEWINGTON, CT — A local roadway is closed to traffic Monday afternoon due to a brush fire, according to the Newington Police Department.

The NPD issued an alert at about 1 p.m. Monday stating Russell Road was closed to traffic in the area of the local Humane Society chapter.

Police said a brush fire there was causing problems with motorists, who were asked to seek alternate routes of travel in that area.
