Major Traffic Mess Reported In Newington

NEWINGTON, CT — A messy situation in Newington has motorists scrambling for alternate routes of travel late Monday morning.

According to the Newington Fire Department, units were in the area of 132 Edward St. to deal with a truck incident.

Firefighters said a large truck became entangled in communication and power lines, prompting the roadway to be shut down.

The NFD said Edward Street was closed from Tremont Street to Ridgewood Road, with Eversource Energy and Frontier Communications both called to the scene.

The incident was reported at about 11 a.m., and the situation is still being addressed.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes of travel.
