Newington 2023 Elections: Democrat Trister Is Mayor
Here's everything you need to know concerning the Newington local elections including the candidates, polling places, and voting hours.

NEWINGTON, CT β On Nov. 7, Newington residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include: mayor, the town council, school board, fire commission, and constable.
Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of Stateβs website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration.

Ballot question
1. "Shall the Town of Newington appropriate $10,997,600 for the John Wallace Middle School renovation project and authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds and notes in an amount not to exceed $5,498,800 and the use of grants and such other sources of funds to finance said appropriation?"
Mayor
The Democratic candidate is Jon Trister and the Republican candidate is Beth Kinsey Delbuono.
Town Council
For town council, you'll vote for up to five people. Democratic candidates are: AJ Tiniakos, Mitch Page, Kim Radda, Matthew Plourd, and Kathy Gonzalez. Republican candidates include: John Donahue, Gail Budrejko, Dave Nagel, Michael Camillo, and Tim Manke.
Board of Education
For the school board, you'll vote for up to five people. Democratic candidates are: Sam Sharma, Shaun Holloran, Jessica Weaver, Amy DeVoe Perrotti, and Meri Beatrice. Republican candidates include: Tony Miele, Brittany Carr, Kelly Dehaas, Anastasia Yopp, and Tim Newton.
Fire Commission
The Democratic candidate is Brian "Bubba" Whalen and the Republican candidate is Eric Giansanti.
Constable
The Democratic candidate is Fred Callahan III and the Republican candidate is Mike Sirois.
