Newington Obituary: John York, 54

John York, 54, of Newington, the loving husband of Elena (Zorzo) York, passed away on Monday, June 18th 2018.

Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Frank York Jr. and Virginia (Swingle). He moved to Newington where he lived for many years. John was a very generous man to anyone in need but he was especially fond of participating in the Newington Stuff-a-Cruiser program. He spent lots of his own time and resources collecting toys and gifts so that families throughout Connecticut could put a gift under their Christmas tree.

John was extremely creative and his skills were most frequently showcased through his love of baking. He was an incredible baker and cake decorator and would always amaze family and friends with his beautiful culinary creations. John loved to play golf and was happiest when outdoors enjoying a project or working in his yard.

In addition to his loving wife Elena; he leaves his brothers Brad and his wife Kathy of Burlington; Frank and his wife Debbie of Bristol; his sister Lisa Duval and her husband Matt of Bristol; his nieces and nephews: Kristina Wheeler, Peter and Jennifer York and Eric and McKenna Duval. He was predeceased by his sister Cassandra York and his brother Jeff York.

John's funeral service will take place on Friday, June 22, at 4:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes, Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave. in Newington, followed immediately by a visitation period from 4:30-7:00 p.m.
