NEW LONDON, CT — Without community leaders, New London wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

What does this community leader do?

Beloved volunteers weekly at our church Homeless breakfast program. At one time she ran the entire breakfast program, here in New London, at Engaging Heaven Church.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Beloved has gone out of her way for every person who has ever asked for, looks like they needed a meal, clothes, prayer, or a shoulder to cry on. I have watched her selflessness for over 10 years now.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Beloved left her home, ( with three weeks notice), to begin classes at The School of Government in Tampa, Florida. She packed her entire apartment, put everything in storage, and probably had $10 to her name. She believed God would make a way for her to pay the registration for school. Someone heard her story and paid her way to fly to Florida. She stayed there almost a year to finish school and graduate with honors . Did I mention she was 70 years old at the time?!? And this was just last year!
