Details Released On National Drug Takeback Day In New London

The upcoming event provides the public with a chance to easily dispose of expired and unused medications.

NEW LONDON, CT — The New London Police Department is participating in National Drug Takeback Day.

The event is Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The nationwide effort is sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

"Two officers will be stationed in our parking lot, 5 Gov. Winthrop Blvd., New London, CT, for you to drive up and drop off. Again, drive up, drop off, and go. Oh yeah, a smile and thank you from us too!" police wrote on Facebook.

In case of inclement weather, the collection will occur in the lobby.

This national initiative provides an opportunity for the public to dispose of expired, or unwanted pharmaceutical drugs and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.
