DOT To Embark On Gold Star Memorial Bridge Path Project: Report

A Department of Transportation official outlined a project intended to make the bridge safer for pedestrians and bicyclists.

NEW LONDON, CT — The state Department of Transportation plans to widen the sidewalk on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists, The Day of New London reported.

The project is anticipated to cost $55 million.

Currently, the sidewalk is five feet wide and it will be expanded to 14 feet wide for most of the length of the bridge, which connects Groton and New London.
