Increased Police Presence At New London Schools Due To Threat
Police said the social media threat "has not been validated or linked to any specific school."

NEW LONDON, CT — There will be an increased police presence at New London schools after violent threats were circulating on social media, police said.
Police wrote the following on Facebook:
"We are aware of a screenshot circulating on social media that claims a threat of violence at a school. At this time, the threat has not been validated or linked to any specific school. Out of an abundance of caution, the New London Police Department will have an elevated presence at our schools this morning and throughout the school day. The safety of our students and school staff are our top priority."

On Wednesday afternoon, police responded to New London High School on a reported weapons call and secured the building.
"The situation was resolved quickly and the location was deemed safe. Although there was a disruption to the schedule, we want to assure you that our students and staff are safe," police wrote.
