NEW LONDON, CT — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after crashing into a police cruiser Sunday night, police said.

At 10:13 p.m., a New London police cruiser was struck by a motorcycle in the area of Neptune Avenue and Park Street, while responding to a call for service at Ocean Beach Park.

The adult male operator appeared to have sustained serious injuries, police said. The man was subsequently transported to L+M Hospital for medical treatment, police said.

The New London Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is conducting the active and ongoing investigation. The accident investigation remains active.
