The city announced it will distribute 3,510 COVID-19 tests to residents.

NEW LONDON, CT — The city announced it will distribute 3,510 antigen self-tests for COVID-19 infection detection, according to a statement from Mayor Michael E. Passero. The distribution is part of a joint effort with the state and federal governments as "a proactive effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus especially during the holiday season as people travel to see relatives amid a surge of cases due to the omicron variant."
City personnel are expected to obtain the COVID-19 self-tests Thursday morning. Personnel will pass out the self-tests to New London residents from 2 to 8 p.m. or while supplies last at the C. B. Jennings School parking-lot at 50 Mercer St. in New London.
Residents are encouraged to drive through to receive the test, but walk-ups are welcome.
