New London To Distribute At-Home COVID-19 Tests

NEW LONDON, CT — The city has announced it will distribute a limited supply of at-home COVID-19 test kits and a large quantity of N95 respirator masks, according to a statement from the city.

The distribution will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the C.B. Jennings School parking lot at 50 Mercer St. in New London.

Residents are encouraged to drive through to receive the tests and masks. Walk-ups are welcome. Residents will need to bring proof of their residency, such as identification or mail.

Each vehicle will be given one self-test kit which has two inside of it and a box of N95 masks.

The distribution is a result of a cooperative effort with Governor Ned Lamont, the State Department of Public Health, State Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, the Connecticut National Guard, the local Health Department Ledge Light Health District, and the City of New London.

The distribution is part of a proactive effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus especially amid a surge of cases due to the omicron variant.
