New London Puts Winter Parking Restrictions In Effect

​ The city has enacted winter parking restrictions due to a snowstorm expected from Monday evening through Tuesday.

NEW LONDON, CT — The city has enacted winter parking restrictions due to a snowstorm expected from Monday evening through Tuesday, according to a statement.

A downtown parking ban will be in effect beginning 9 p.m. Monday and continuing until the end of the storm.

Parking on downtown district streets or the municipal surface parking lot will not be allowed. Vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense to permit clearing streets and parking lots.

The public is invited to park in the Water Street Parking garage free of charge until Wednesday morning, March 1.

Citywide parking restriction include the following:

  • No parking on narrow streets
  • Where parking is permitted on only one side of the street, follow posted regulations
  • Where parking is permitted on both sides of the street, park on the "even" side of the street only

Police will be strictly enforcing these restrictions and will be issuing tickets and/or having vehicles towed according to the statement.
