Tornado Confirmed In New London County: NWS
The National Weather Service says late Monday that Connecticut saw another tornado on Monday.

NEW LONDON, CT – The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado did touch down in New London County near Stonington after fast-moving thunderstorms moved through the region Monday morning. The survey was completed by the National Weather Service on Monday afternoon. Connecticut is nearing its tenth tornado since May.
The most recent storm affected a number of areas in New London County. In North Stonington, power was knocked out through areas of town, with the area east of Mystic Pizza to the intersection of Route 49 and between Route 49 and Babcock Road seeing damage, according to a Tweet from town officials Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service says an EF-0 tornado with winds between 65 and 85 mph touched down in Stonington and North Stonington on Monday at 7:56 a.m. "The tornado uprooted multiple large trees which were downed in a convergent pattern."

"The tornado touched down on North Anguilla Road about 0.3 miles south of Miner Pentway. The tornado then lifted before touching down again on North Anguilla Road at Miner Pentway. The tornado then lifted before touching down along Route 184 between Route 2 and Route 49. The tornado lifted briefly one more time before touching down on Route 49 near Babock Road," the National Weather Service says.
A Stonington resident told NBC CT that they felt their home shake and that a tree fell on both their roof and a deck.

State police said on Twitter Monday morning Route 184 between Route 2 and Route 49 in North Stonington is closed due to numerous trees and wires down from the storm. Travelers are asked to avoid the area if possible.

According to the NWS, a tornado touched down on Fishers Island in Suffolk County, N.Y., at 7:35 a.m., further details of which will be released Tuesday after a team conducts an on-site survey.
A preliminary storm survey is scheduled for this afternoon for the area near Stonington in New London, CT. The survey is in relation to the thunderstorms that moved through the area earlier this morning. A final assessment including the results will be completed this evening.
