ID Released Of Man Found Dead In Area Of New London Parking Garage

Police released new details Tuesday evening concerning the "untimely death."

The New London Police Department has identified the individual who died as a result of an incident outside the New London parking garage on the Atlantic Street side as Thomas Fino, 38, of New London, police said Tuesday evening.

"The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this death remains active and ongoing. Preliminary findings indicate the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature, and no threat to public safety exists at this time," police said.

Police responded at 4:26 p.m. Monday to the are of the Water Street Parking Garage following a report of an unresponsive man on the Atlantic Street side of the parking garage.

First responders found a man in critical condition. He was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and later declared dead.

An investigation into the death remains ongoing.

Police said, "Preliminary findings indicate the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature, and no threat to public safety exists at this time."

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
