Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It's a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.
This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We've rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around New London. Please note: We recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours and access before you head out the door.
The Bruce Jacques Show!
When: Friday, May 24 - 7:00-10:00 p.m.
Where: Bank & Bridge Brewing, 54 West Main St., Mystic, CT 06340
What: Beer aficionados at Bank & Bridge Brewing will get to hear the live stylings of Bruce Jacques on Friday, May 24. The 7:00 p.m. start event is a sing-a-long-comedy show performed by one single man performing rock & roll music personalities. And what’s better than a pint and some music?

Classic Car & Truck Show
When: Saturday, May 25 - 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Where: Holy New Martyrs Orthodox Church, 364 Canterbury Tpke., Norwich, CT 06360
What: The annual Classic Car & Truck Show is back at Holy New Martyrs Orthodox Church. The event will feature food, a live DJ, raffles and trophies for standout vehicles. Vehicle registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with a $10 fee; public entry is free.
Live Music & Wood Fired Pizza
When: Saturday, May 25 - 4:00-2:00 p.m.
Where: Mystic KOA Holiday, 118 Pendleton Hill Rd., North Stonington, CT 06359
What: Head over to the Mystic KOA Holiday campgrounds for pizza and live music. The Wayfaring Strangers will be performing while a local food truck cooks up wood-fired pizza. Note: The time of this event is subject to change.

Jane Eyre
When: Sunday, May 26 - 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Where: The Shaw Mansion, 11 Blinman St., New London, CT 06320
What: Flock Theatre presents a matinee of Jane Eyre at The Shaw Mansion. Fans of Charlotte Bronte’s novel, adapted by Julie Butters for the stage, can attend the show for a general admission price of $40.
