Wrong Way Detection Installation Projects To Begin In New London
Drivers should expect detours and an exit ramp on I-95 will be closed as the DOT will install wrong way detection systems.

NEW LONDON, CT — A state project will install wrong way detection systems for I-95.
The New London Police Department issued the following statement on the project:
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing wrong way detection installation projects in various locations in District 2.

New London starting on Wednesday, February 15, 2024 | 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. I-95 southbound off-ramp to Route 1 south, I-95 southbound off-ramp to Route 1 south
Motorists can expect a temporary exit ramp closure to occur at the I-95 southbound off ramp to Route 1 south (Colman Street) in New London. Traffic will be detoured to the Briggs Street off-ramp, take a left onto Briggs Street and go over I-95, take a left onto the Frontage Road on ramp and follow Frontage Road back to Colman Street. Variable message boards will be set approximately one (1) week prior to the start of this project. Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
