Gun Threat Determined To Be 'Not Credible' At North Haven School: PD

Police were at the North Haven Middle School / High School campus for a "reported threat of gun violence," according to officials.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The school threat police investigated Tuesday afternoon was determined to be “not credible,” police said in an update.

“Just before 2pm it was reported to us that an individual had contacted a veteran’s service crisis line via an online chat, stating they were going to North Haven Middle school for a shooting,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We immediately dispatched all available personnel to the MS/HS campus, which was put into a shelter in place. Simultaneously, some students had already begun to depart the school prior to our arrival / shelter in place. Students who were still on site were put into a brief shelter in place, and PD personnel began to escort the remaining students onto buses and parent pick up. We have learned similar threats have been made to other schools in CT and across the country, and from an investigative / technical standpoint, similarities discovered further support our belief this threat is not credible.

“With that said, we take ALL threats toward our students and staff seriously, and will treat them as if they are credible, until we can determine they are not. We understand these are stressful events for parents, students, and staff, and are thankful to the BOE and school supernumerary officers who help assist us with these matters.”
