NORWALK, CT — Five residents of a two-story Norwalk apartment building were displaced after a fire broke out in the bedroom of one of the apartments Thursday afternoon, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Maggio said firefighters received a report of a residential structure fire on North Taylor Avenue around 1 p.m.
Residents were evacuating the building as firefighters arrived, Maggio said. First arriving crews encountered moderate smoke coming from an apartment door in a stairwell on the second floor.

Five residents of the apartment where the fire originated were displaced after the apartment was posted unfit for occupancy, Maggio said. Other residents were allowed to re-occupy the building.
