Dr. Iveri Shashiashvili, 64, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012

Dr. Iveri Shashiashvili, 64, of Norwalk, died suddenly on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born in Georgia, former Soviet Union. He worked as a colorectal surgeon and oncologist for 20 years in Russia. He was the loving husband of Dr. Gulnara Chikvaidze for 43 years. They met in Medical School and both enjoyed working at the Oncology Medical Research Center in Obninsk, Russia. An accomplished pianist and avid reader, he was a devoted father and grandfather and was very much loved by his family, friends and patients.
In addition to his wife Svetlana Monakhova, he is survived by daughter, Dr. Tamara Shashiashvili of West Islip, NY, son Dubai Shashiashvili, and daughter Evelyn Nicole Shashiashvili, of Toronto Canada, and a brother from Georgia, Malkhaz Shashiashvili, each of whom he loved very much.
Additional family includes his aunts Ketevani and Gia Gelovani, Zeinab and Leila Mindadze, Zurab Chikvaidze, Cicino Chikvaidze, Lali Chilaija, Guram Menteshashvili, friends from Russia; Yura Rogachev, Alexander Fadeev, Ruslan Dzadzamia, Emzar, Gimzer, Nugzar with family, all collegues from Radiological Center in Obninsk and head of MRNC A.Zib, B.Berdov and friends in Norwalk Manana and Rich Slopers, Diana, Eka.

He also leaves his dear cat, Kuzya, who traveled with him from Russia to the US.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. John Livingston will be held on Thursday at 10 am at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.
