Multi-Day Snow and Ice Chance Remains for Norwalk

One Connecticut meteorologist says "the prolonged storm is looking less impressive."

Yes, there is still a chance for periods of light snow on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday but the National Weather Service is no longer predicting 8 inches of snow accumulation for most of the state.

In fact the snowfall projections are all over the place. WFSB 3 Meteorologist Mark Dixon predicts there could be 2-4 inches of snow by the end of Sunday and possibly more on Monday. He estimates 6-12 inches is possible for the state if it in fact remains all snow.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Bob Maxon estimates that a few inches of snow is possible on Sunday with more on Monday.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons predicts that the Connecticut Shoreline will receive mixed precipitation and overall “the prolonged storm is looking less impressive.”

In fact NBC Meteorologist Brad Field is already looking toward next weekends potential blockbuster storm.

“Confidence growing that next 2 weeks + are harsh with bouts of more snow and sub-zero cold...next weekend looks PARTICULARLY harsh…,” Field wrote on social media.

Here’s what the National Weather Service is forecasting for Norwalk as of 4:52 p.m.:

  • Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. West wind 5 to 11 mph.
  • Saturday: A slight chance of light snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
  • Saturday night: A chance of snow before midnight, then a chance of snow and freezing rain. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Light southwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • Sunday: A chance of snow and freezing rain before 9am, then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. East wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • Sunday night: Snow and freezing rain likely, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 24. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Monday: Snow and freezing rain likely before 9am, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet between 9am and noon, then snow and freezing rain after noon. High near 29. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Monday night: A chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35.
  • Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 15.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29.
  • Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.
  • Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 29.
  • Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 6.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 17.
