Norwalk Unemployment Rate Rises to 7.1 Percent

That's up from 6.7 percent in September.

There has been little change in Norwalk's local labor situation over the last four weeks — with the town's latest unemployment rate rising slightly from September.

According to the latest figures released by the Connecticut Department of Labor, Norwalk's unemployment for October was 7.1 percent.

In September, the town's unemployment rate was also 6.7.

Additionally, the department's figures also showed the labor force in Norwalk grew slightly over the same period: from 48,979 in September to 49,206 in October.

In Connecticut, the pool of jobless people last month rose to 9.0 percent overall. Nationally, the United State's unemployment rate is 7.9 percent.

Locally, Darien's unemployment rate currently sits at 6.3 percent, New Canaan's at 6.0 percent and Westport's is at 6.4 percent.
