Wegmans Begins Hiring For First CT Store In Norwalk, Planned To Open Summer 2025
As customers await the opening of CT's first Wegmans store in Norwalk, the company is now hiring full-time employees to work at the store.

NORWALK, CT — As eager customers await the opening of Connecticut's very first Wegmans store in Norwalk next year, the company announced this week it is currently hiring full-time employees to work at the new supermarket.
Wegmans spokesperson Marcie Rivera said the Norwalk store is scheduled to open at 675 Connecticut Avenue in summer 2025, and the company plans to employ approximately 500 people at the new location.
"Our construction schedule is on track for a summer 2025 opening," Rivera said to Patch. "We're making great progress on both the parking garage and the store itself."

A majority of employees at the 92,000 square-foot Norwalk supermarket will be new to the company and hired locally, Rivera said.
Jessica Vonashek, Norwalk's chief of economic and community development, said the city was thrilled Wegmans will be hiring hundreds of employees at the Norwalk store and encouraged interested applicants to apply.

"We are very pleased to be the first home of Wegmans in the state of Connecticut," Vonashek said to Patch. "Companies like Wegmans spend a lot of time and effort researching their markets and it is clear that Norwalk was their target location."
Vonashek also noted Norwalk continues to attract new residents, helping to "grow our strong workforce and vibrant community" and make the city a regional destination.
"We believe our growing population, local road network, world-class transit options, redevelopment opportunities, and access to the highway makes us attractive to large national retailers," Vonashek said. "In addition, our housing stock, education system and local amenities like our parks and beaches are attractive to employers and their employees. Norwalk has it all."
Full-time job applicants are invited to apply online at jobs.wegmans.com or call 203-299-3333 for more information.
Interviews are conducted by appointment only, and applications are not accepted at the store construction site, according to additional press materials provided by Wegmans.
Available full-time positions include everything from entry-level management to customer service positions in bakery, produce, overnight grocery and culinary roles such as chefs and line cooks. Hiring for part-time positions will begin at a later date.
"Wegmans offers competitive pay with industry-leading benefits, flexible scheduling, and a friendly, positive workplace," Store Manager Emily Reynolds, who started her Wegmans career as a part-time cashier over 18 years ago, said in an accompanying news release. "We bring new employees on board quickly so they can receive in-depth training on the customer service skills and product knowledge that set our people apart."
Wegmans operates over 100 stores along the East Coast and has more than 53,000 employees chain-wide, according to the company.
In addition to Norwalk, Wegmans is set to open new locations in New York and Maryland in 2025.
A planned Wegmans supermarket in Norwalk was first announced back in March 2022. At the time of the announcement, a portion of the property was occupied by an office complex owned by MBI, Inc., which later moved its operations to a new office space on Main Avenue.
Once completed, Wegmans will join a roster of stores offering grocery items in the Connecticut Avenue area that includes ShopRite, Costco and one of the city's two Stop & Shop stores.
Stew Leonard's, the city's other large-scale grocery store, is located further away from the competition on Westport Avenue.
A Walmart store on Connecticut Avenue that offered grocery items closed for good in November. A Target store is planned to open in its place, however an opening date has not been announced.
