Developer Has Big Plans For Former Norwich YMCA Site
The Norwich YMCA closed in 2009. Now a developer has plans for a brew pub, retail space, and more, according to a report.
NORWICH, CT —Plans for the site of the former YMCA on Main Street in Norwich call for a brew pub, at least two retail spaces, and a developer's headquarters, according to The Norwich Bulletin. Mattern Construction is spearheading the project, one of several intended to revitalize the city's downtown.
The company also plans to move its headquarters from Sprague to the site. The project is funded in part by a combination of state, federal, and local grants.
The YMCA previously operated at a 20,000-square-foot building on the site until it closed in 2009.
