Massive Norwich School Proposal To Go To Referendum: Report

The school district has big plans that voters will weigh in on in the fall.

NORWICH, CT — A referendum in November will determine whether the city will spend millions on new school buildings, The Norwich Bulletin reported. The City Council voted to send the proposal to referendum at a Monday night meeting.

The proposal calls for $385 million in spending, with the city paying $149 million after grants.

The plan includes remodeling Teacher’s Global Magnet Middle School, repurposing Samuel Huntington School as a school district office, and demolishing seven elementary school buildings and building four larger ones.
