Murder Parolee Charged In Norwich Home Invasion, Assault: Police

Police and U.S. Marshals converged on the man's home Friday morning to take him into custody, police said.

NORWICH, CT — A city man on parole after serving prison time for murder was arrested Friday on charges related to an October home invasion and a February knife attack, according to police.

Police and U.S. Marshals served two arrest warrants on Ronnie Hinton, 52, at his 96 Roath St. residence on Friday around 5:30 a.m.

Hinton was charged with home invasion, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, second-degree kidnapping, sale of narcotics, carrying a dangerous weapon and violating parole.

The charges stem from two incidents. One involved a home invasion and assault on Broadway Street on Oct. 19, 2024. In the other case, on Feb. 24, 2025, police responded to Franklin Street on a report of a man who had been attacked with a knife and received a laceration to his neck.

Hinton was arraigned in Superior Court in Norwich on Friday.

According to police, Hinton was on parole at the time of the October and February incidents. He had been released from prison in 2023 after serving 33 years for murder, for the 1989 fatal shooting of three men in Hartford.
