Norwich To Hold $385 Million Schools Referendum
The proposed bonds would cover a massive overhaul of the school's infrastructure.

NORWICH, CT — Voters in Norwich will weigh in on a referendum calling for $385 million in bonds to restructure the city's school system Nov. 8. The funds include the construction of new elementary schools on the grounds of the Moriarty Environmental Sciences Magnet School, the John B. Stanton School, the Uncas School, and the former Greenville School.
The measure also includes funds to renovate Teachers Memorial Global Studies Magnet middle school or the construction of a new middle school. The proposed funding would also cover the conversion and renovation of the Samuel Huntington School to accommodate the district's central offices.
Though the bond question requests $385 million, the city's total cost would be $97 million to $153 million depending on how much the state reimburses, according to The New London Day.
