The Lexus drove toward an active Department of Transportation construction pattern in Colchester, police said. Troopers were conducting a “slow roll” with two DOT crash attenuator trucks blocking both westbound lanes because construction workers were setting up lane closures ahead, according to police.
The Lexus driver approached the troopers and crash trucks, then went onto the grass to get past them, and continued westbound, police said.

At this point, the driver was “endangering the lives of the construction workers on the highway” up ahead, according to police.
State police pursued the Lexus, which reached speeds higher than 120 miles per hour before it got off the highway at Exit 8, police said. The Lexus lost control and struck another vehicle in Glastonbury, and state police pinned it to prevent the driver from fleeing again.
No one was injured in the incident.
The driver, Marcus Douton, 24, of Norwich, failed field sobriety tests, according to state police.
Douton was charged with operating under the influence, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, interfering with an officer, criminal impersonation, and second-degree forgery. He also faces multiple motor vehicle-related charges, including operating without a license.
Douton was arraigned in Superior Court in Norwich on Thursday, and his case was continued to June 3.
