Norwich To Receive $18K For 18 Years In Opioid Settlement: Report

The city will receive $18,000 annually for 18 years as part of a settlement with major pharmaceutical companies.

NORWICH, CT — The city will receive $18,000 annually for 18 years as part of a settlement with major pharmaceutical companies to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths, according to The New London Day. The city will receive its share from a $26-billion nationwide settlement with the pharmaceutical distributors Cardinal, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen and manufacturer Johnson & Johnson.

The money will be kept in a special fund, and City Manager John Salomone will present recommendations for how to spend the money in an April city council meeting.
