Norwich Vape Shop Raid Leads To Drug Arrest: PD

The store's owner is facing multiple drug-related charges, according to police.

NORWICH, CT — The owner of the Uptown Smoke & Vape Shop is accused of operating a drug factory after a Monday police raid at the business, police said.

Police executed a search and seizure warrant at the business, at 1 Jewett City Rd., Taftville, at 1:30 p.m.

Police seized 243 grams of cocaine, 30 pressed fentanyl pills, 8 grams of fentanyl, THC products containing the equivalent of 60 pounds of marijuana, $3,435 cash, a digital scale, and drug packaging materials, according to police.

The store’s owner, Darric Profit, 47, of 108 North Main St. Apartment A, Jewett City, faces charges of operation of a drug factory, and multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance and sale of a narcotic substance, according to the state Judicial Branch website.

Profit is next due to appear in Superior Court in Norwich on April 16.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Connecticut State Police Joint Task Force-East Office also participated in the raid.
