Norwich Walmart Restroom Voyeur Arrested: Police

A man was using a recording device in the women's bathroom, according to police.

NORWICH, CT — A Sprague man is accused of using a recording device inside the women’s bathroom at a local Walmart store on Monday.

Grayson S. Weir, 21, of Sprague, has been charged with voyeurism, breach of peace, and risk of injury to a minor, police announced Thursday.

Lt. Kyle Besse said police were summoned on Monday around 11:15 a.m. to the Walmart at 220 Salem Turnpike.

Store management contacted police after witnesses reported a man using a recording device in the women’s restroom, according to police. Walmart store personnel went to the restroom and confirmed a man’s presence there, police said.

Before police arrived, the man left the store and fled in a vehicle. Store employees and witnesses gave police a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle. Detectives identified Weir as the suspect, located him in Baltic and arrested him, according to police.

Weir posted bail and is due to appear in Superior Court in Norwich on May 22.

Police said the case remains an “active investigation” as of Thursday.
