• Meet the candidates running for the 139th CT House district seat (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich residents in the second and third precincts can vote in a Jan. 13 special election to fill the 139th House district seat, with early voting at City Hall Jan. 8–11 and Election Day voting at Rose City Senior Center. Democrat Larry Pemberton and Republican Brandon Sabbag both emphasize affordability while offering different personal backgrounds and priorities for representing parts of Norwich, Montville, and Ledyard.
   

• Norwich veterans receive holiday food donations from community drive (wfsb.com) — Veterans in Norwich are receiving about 200 holiday food kits thanks to a two-week community drive that filled the pantry at Easterseals Veterans Rally Point. Volunteers unloaded pallets in the cold, sorting donations for the 2,700 members the center serves, including 170 families who regularly rely on its food pantry. Organizers hope to expand drop-off locations and reach even more local veterans next year.
   

• Man charged with manslaughter, cruelty to persons following deadly 2024 crash in Griswold (wfsb.com) — A Griswold man has been charged with manslaughter and other offenses in connection with a December 2024 crash that killed his passenger, and he’s due in Norwich court on Dec. 18. State police say he waited nearly an hour to call for help after the car went off Hell Hollow Road, and neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
