Vacant House Damaged In Norwich Blaze

The cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials said.

NORWICH, CT — An empty house on East Main Street was damaged in a Tuesday evening fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house at 490 East Main St. at 7:32 p.m. on a report of smoke coming from the third-floor attic area, fire officials said.

Once firefighters got inside, they found two rooms burning on the top level. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. No one was found inside the building, and no one was injured, firefighters said.

The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
