Black Bear Spotted In Orange, Police Say
Police received a few reports of a black bear in town.
ORANGE, CT — The Town of Orange, Connecticut, Police Department shared on social media that they have received reports of a black bear in town.
"It is a little late in the season this year but we have received a few reports today of a black bear in the upper Grassy Hill Road neighborhoods and in the area of Fairway Road," police shared in a social media post. "Bear sightings are very common in Connecticut and we request that you only call us when there is a threat or an emergency associated with a bear. Please do not feed nor approach the bear, they are only foraging for food. Keep your distance and respect all wildlife."
There have been 9,238 bear sightings reported across Connecticut in 2025, according to state officials. There has been one reported bear sighting in Orange up until today and none in Milford and West Haven but five in Shelton and nine in Stratford. (View more data here).
