‘Extraordinary’ Rescue: Family Thanks Oxford Crews For Saving Horse Amigo
The family from Oxford said the rescue spared them an "unimaginable loss" and thanked those involved for their dedication to service.
OXFORD, CT — The owners of a horse rescued after falling through the ice on a pond in Oxford are publicly thanking first responders and others involved, calling their actions “extraordinary” and crediting them with saving a beloved animal.
A friend of the Haney family shared a statement from the owners on Wednesday, following the Monday rescue. In it, the family identified the horse as Amigo and expressed deep gratitude to the first responders and others who assisted during the emergency at their farm on Chestnut Tree Hill Road.
“Your courage, professionalism, and teamwork were nothing short of extraordinary,” the family said. “You put yourselves at risk without hesitation, working tirelessly and compassionately to save Amigo, who is such a cherished member of our family.”

Oxford fire officials previously said crews rescued the horse after it fell through the ice on a pond, with the animal safely brought back to shore.
Officials said the incident ended safely, with no reported injuries.
