Oxford — Alexander McWilliams, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Griffin Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Hummel) McWilliams. Mr. McWilliams was born March 3, 1930 in Orange, CT, son of the late John and Jean (Bell) McWilliams.

He retired from Avco Lycoming and worked as a gentleman farmer. He also served as past captain of the Quaker Farms Fire Department.
He leaves his son, John McWilliams, and daughter, Cathleen Cohen; three granddaughters, Alexandra McClure and her husband, Marcus and son, Oliver; Melissa Dorazio and her husband, Richard, and Michelle Cohen and her fiancé, Kevin Kowalski; and his sister, Helen Sicignano and her husband, Robert. Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by his sisters, Jacqueline Corideo and Jean Rogers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Calling hours are Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the daily chapel of the church. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Oxford.
Arrangements are conducted by Carpino Funeral Home in Southbury.
