Oxford Native Naugatuck Adult English Teacher Wins Award for Excellence in Teaching
Lois Devino's decades of teaching English at both high school and adult levels have paid off in more ways than one.

English teacher at the Naugatuck Adult Education program, Lois Devino, of Oxford, was recently honored as the 2015 educator of the year by the Connecticut Association of Adult and Continuing Education, according to the Republican-American.
Naugatuck Adult Education staff nominated Devino because she frequently goes above and beyond for the students, and often spends numerous hours of her own dedicated time working with those who need the extra help, the Rep-Am reported.
Devino has taught English in the regular education program at Naugatuck High School for 39 years before retiring five years ago, according to the Rep-Am. She has continued her career by teaching adult students who range from learning the English language to those who are nearly ready to write at the college level.
