Oxford Planning to Hold a Mock Shooting Training Session
Committee reviewed and discussed procedures in place at February meeting and plan to schedule a session for town employees in near future.

OXFORD, CT - The Safety and Health Committee discussed at its February meeting, and decided it was a good idea, that the town soon hold a session to train town employees what to do in a potential shooting situation.
The suggestion for a mock training sesssion came from Vice Chairwoman Margaret West-Mainor. The committee after discussing the suggestion decided it would review current emergency procedures currently in place before proceeding.
The committee said at its meeting in April, it would likely discuss the matter again, and possibly discuss setting a date for mock training sessions.

In addition to scheduling the sessions, the committee said its other goal would be to make sure town employees have reviewed all current safety procedures in place.
At the conclusion of the committee’s February meeting, committee Chairwoman Kelly Weymer thanked members for their patience and diligence. She added that it is a state requirement that towns conduct meetings concerning safety on a regular basis.

She noted that the work the committee is charged with is not easy - but important and necessary to ensure the safety of both employees and the public.
