Oxford's FACE ShowCase Art Award Winners Exhibit at Oxford Town Hall
Twenty four artists competed for art awards in the juried art exhibit.

The Oxford Cultural Arts Commission proudly presents an exhibit of art works by the winners of our annual ShowCase Art Exhibit that took place during Oxford’s FACE (Festival of Arts, Culture and Entertainment) the weekend of May 20th, 21st, and 22nd.
There were 10 prizes totaling over $1200 awarded at the 7th annual major juried OCAC Showcase Art Exhibit’s Gala Opening Friday May 20th. Twenty four artists and seventy works of art in a verity of styles and mediums competed for Art Awards donated by area businesses, organizations and individuals.

Five major awards were presented. Best in Show $500 from Valley Community Foundation went to “Standing the Test of Time” a Gicl’ee Print/Photo by Rick Sereque of Oxford. First Place $300 from OCAC was awarded to “Fifth Avenue” a Photo by Megan Crandlemire of Oxford. Second Place $200 from Oxford Grange #194 was awarded to “Disguised Self-Portrait” an Acrylic by Tyreece Gary of New Haven. Third Place $100 from Heritage Benefit Consultants, Inc., went to “Chickens” a Pastel by Eileen Davies of Oxford. Honorable Mention the Caryl Soucy Memorial Award of $50 from The Soucy Family was awarded to “Underneath the Clouds” a Photo on Canvas by CJ Mainor of Oxford.
There were also five Special theme awards presented. The Art Appreciation Award $50 from Laura Maksymiw honoring Celia Eckholm went to “Pear Still Life” an Oil by Lynn Bennett Plourde of Southbury. Creative Reality Award $25 from RAD ART went to “Breaking in” a Gicl’ee Print/Photo by Linda Sereque of Oxford. Kitty Princess Tortellini Memorial Award $25 from Cat’s Corner Veterinary Hospital went to “Aggie from DAWS Walk” an Oil by ShawnaLee Kwashnak of Middlebury. Creative Use of Nature Award $25 from Colonial Tavern was awarded to “Heartland” an Oil/Ink by Kate Davoli of Milford. Unique Image Award $25 from RAD ART was awarded to “A Day at the Spa” an Oil by Brooke Van Buiten of Oxford.

A donations by the public for a ballot to vote for the People’s choice award continued all weekend with funds going to the OCAC Caryl Soucy Memorial Scholarship for an Oxford High School Student pursuing a career in the Arts. The winning art was “Disguised Self-Portrait” an Acrylic by Tyreece Gary of New Haven who took home a beautiful engraved polished pewter bowl from Woodbury Pewter.
The winning art works plus other art by each of these artists will be on display from May 23rd to June 30th in the Oxford Town Hall Meeting Room Gallery in Oxford Town Hall 486 Oxford Road, (Route 67) Oxford, CT 06478, during regular business hours Monday through Friday 9AM to 5PM.
The Oxford Cultural Arts Commissioners, Friends of OCAC, volunteers, Town Hall staff, Public Works staff, sponsors and local businesses work to produce programs such as the Oxford’s FACE events and this Major Art Exhibit. There are opening on the Commission for both Commissioners and Alternates for any Oxford Resident who would like to be part of this organization. Volunteers from the local area are also welcome.
