Police: Woman Assaulted, Left on Side of Highway With Children

Gabriel Bonilla, 25, of Bronx, NY, was charged with risk of injury to a minor, second-degree breach of piece, third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment on March 3 at approximately 12:17 a.m.
According to police, Troop ‘A’ in Southbury received a call reporting a possible domestic dispute on I-84 west near exit 16 in Southbury. Upon arrival, a female reported that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend while driving in his vehicle.

The female said that her boyfriend had stopped in the left travel lane of the highway and she had gotten out for her safety, and the safety of her two children. Bonilla then drove off, leaving the female and children on the side of the highway. The woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.
A description of Bonilla and the vehicle was radioed to police in the area and he was later apprehended. Bonilla was released on $5,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 4.
