OXFORD, CT — Registered Republicans in Oxford will head to the polls Aug. 13 for a primary election to determine challengers for seats in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Beacon Falls First Selectman Gerry Smith and U.S. Navy veteran Matthew Corey of Manchester are vying to face incumbent Chris Murphy for his U.S. Senate seat. In the District 4 Congressional race, incumbent Rep. Jim Himes will be challenged by either Bob MacGuffie of Fairfield, a leader in the Connecticut Tea Party, or Greenwich city council member Michael Goldstein.

The Oxford primary will run from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Quaker Farms School. Early voting will be conducted Aug. 5-11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Oxford Town Hall.
